Senior Manager, Market Intelligence

Job Purpose

The Senior Manager, Market Intelligence is responsible for bridging the company’s corporate plan, external market trends and business intelligence – aligning strategic imperatives with key groups within the organization – with commercial priorities. This includes capturing key inputs from the corporate plan, managing commercial business intelligence, and mapping the macro trends impacting satellite, IoT and mobile telecommunications industry – the competitive landscapes in which Strigo operates.

They also play a key support role in developing the tools and frameworks required to build action plans within the commercial team.

The incumbent strongly adheres to and promotes throughout Strigo’s vision of working in a digital environment -  leveraging digital technologies and tools to optimize efficiencies within the commercial group.

Job Level and Scope

The role reports to the VP of Business Development and is a key member of a cross-functional team (Commercial, Technology, IT, Network Operations, & Program Management) that is jointly responsible for building Strigo’s user base across Canada.

With their understanding of broad strategic implications of the organization’s commercial effort, the incumbent plays a key role in ensuring commercial group efforts align with the corporate strategy & plan.  This includes owning presentation frameworks to be shared with broader corporate audiences, commercial KPI extraction & automation, customer insight mining, and leveraging strong industry knowledge to support fact-based decision making.

Functions and Responsibilities

Maps customer experience insights, telecommunication industry framework and market trends

  • Develops and deploys tools and processes to map macro-market trends and effectively communicate market intelligence findings.
  • Develops and drives the customer experience data collection process & extracts actionable insights for the commercial & technology/product development team.
  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis to convert customer & market data into strategic implications/actionable insights and identify value-creating opportunities.
  • Communicates findings by translating data and market research to strategic implications to the organization.

Maps government stakeholder and regulatory environment

  • Monitors trends shaping the satellite and telecom regulatory environment.
  • Owns the process and tools to map the regulatory environment (ISED, FCC, ITU, 3GPP).
  • Communicates findings by translating data and market research to strategic implications to the organization.

Supports the commercial planning process & effort

  • Works closely with VP Business Development to align OKRs, KPIs, meeting agenda & execution tracking.
  • Works in close alignment with the program management office (PMO) to ensure projects are properly coordinated and prioritized.
  • Supports data analysis and intelligence gathering as required.
  • Collects and prepares presentation material for the commercial group.

Owns the commercial reporting process

  • Develops the demand & supply forecasts in collaboration with Finance.
  • Tracks performance and trends vs forecast.
  • Extracts KPIs and supports in the development of tools to automate manual processes.
  • Supports in the development of operational efficiencies within the commercial group.
  • Supports data analysis and intelligence gathering as required.

Market Forecasting

  • Build analytical frameworks to structure demand planning.
  • Leverages top-down market forecasting methodologies to support business planning effort (subscribers, ARPU, consumption, etc.).
  • Build benchmark models and analysis to support modeling assumptions.
  • Can utilize geospatial tools to realize market analysis and support business planning efforts.


  • The Senior Manager, Market Intelligence leads by example and expertise influencing team vision, behavior, productivity, and professionalism.
  • The position has no direct reports but requires working as a partner with Strigo team members and external partners to support a decision-making approach based on supported facts and sound reasoning.
  • The role supports business planning and corporate planning as outcomes of analyses are feeding core business cases, definition of strategic imperatives and key related corporate strategies.

Decision Making

  • Advises/recommends strategies that adhere to Strigo’s core values and strategic priorities to ensure sustainable long-term success.
  • Drives the intelligence gathering methodology and framework and based on information gathered and data analysis, provides clear recommendations.
  • Drives cross-functional best practices in initiative mapping, structuring and analysis.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Economics or other related business degree – or combination of applicable education and experience. MBA or M.Sc. is an asset.
  • 5+ years of marketing/strategy/business intelligence.
  • Expert knowledge in the telecom/ISP/satcom market(s) to consumers (B2C) and enterprises (B2B) is a key asset.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Being bilingual (English and French) is an asset.

  • Has financial acumen. Is able to manage a budget, develop business cases, track returns and understand data analytics.
  • Is comfortable engaging with senior executives and commercial teams.
  • Has excellent verbal, written and presentation skills (typically in PowerPoint).
  • Prior telecommunications and/or satcom experience is a strong asset.
